Naenae brings summer!

So in the past few days Spring is fully here...with a hint of summer. Last week there were only a few buds on the trees, this week it's full on leaves and vibrant green everywhere. The sun's out and we've had thunderstorms and been loving wearing shorts and T-shirts again.

Daddy bought a GPS handheld a few weeks ago so we've been trying out geocaching and found 8 so far within 2km of our home. Last weekend was Aino Mummi's 90th birthday party which was a great catch up with lots of family and a chance to learn lots about Mummi's amazing experiences as a Lotta in WWII. Emi also found(with a little help from Aunty Anna) the Thomas family's first korvasieni haul.

This weekend has been awesome with Nathan visiting from London on a tattoo mission. So lots of colouring  in of a very permanent kind has been happening in our house over the past few days. It's also the Turku Design Festival this week so we went and checked out the Knit 'n' Tag exhibition along the river and had some awesome cupcakes from the Turku rollerderby team's Restaurant Day stall....all while getting vaguely sunburnt! YEAH!

K with his first Geocache. He got a sweet little ice hockey player toy from this one.

Preparing the korvasieni or false morels which E found at Mummi's birthday party. Every other country pretty much says these are fatally poisonous. In Finland they're a delicacy...after you boil them in four changes of water. They were very good fried up with some cream on boiled potatoes.

Ă„iti getting the Tui and Piwakawaka which will cover most of her arm from the very talented Nathan.
